Volkl Kendo 92 Skis 2021

£600.00

Aimed at confident skiers who want one ski to go everywhere, the Kendo 92 is remarkably versatile. It has the grip to carve big, high-speed turns on piste and the width and handling to ski fast off-piste. The Titanal Frame runs full length to provide the best dampening and stability, as well as power for the edges. Carbon Tips reduce swing weight and the low tip and tail rocker ensure that it’s impressively manoeuvrable.Terrain Type & Ability LevelTerrain Type everywhere on the mountain, remembering that skiing off-piste is much more than only powder runs. It’s at the thin end of the freeride category and this makes it well suited as a 1-ski quiver for someone skiing a lot in europe where bottomless days are rare and versatility but dealing with difficult conditions is crucial. The stability and grip that serve it so well in choppy and packed snow are also important on piste for strong skiers.Skier TypeAdvanced and expert freeriders and all mountain skiers who want some width for stability but who are realistic enough to know they won’t be skiing deep powder often. The Kendo 92 has plenty of power and grip for skiing all the conditions and terrain that good skiers will encounter off-piste, as well as plenty of time on piste.OverviewShape92mm underfoot works well as a compromise for a serious on and off piste skier; not too wide to make the ski feel sluggish on firm snow and offering float and balance for other conditions. The sidecut is fairly straight with a 19.8m radius (177cm) helping with stability; the tips and tails are relatively short to keep a long effective edge. The tail has a slight rise that assists turn release, especially useful in trickier terrain or snow.RockerTip and Tail Rocker uses camber underfoot for excellent grip and response, with tip and tail rocker to aid turn initiation and release.CoreThe Multi Layer Woodcore uses a combination of beech and poplar, resulting in an extremely durable core composed of hard wood in the binding area and lighter wood around. This is reinforced by a full length Titanal Frame that increases torsional stiffness and improves dampening.ConstructionFull sidewall produces direct and strong power transmission for the best control.Key FeaturesTitanal FrameThe Titanal Frame with a thickness of 0.7 mm is integrated along the sidewall and into tip and tail area of the ski. This way the ski provides the stability and dampening that every experienced skier expects, at the most critical spots on the tip and tail of the ski. A second thinner Titanal layer (0.3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski. This ensures the binding screws offer the most reliable hold even in the toughest conditions and the super thin sheet allows a soft flex in the mid-body. Due to this highly complex construction skiers experience a previously unknown combination of liveliness and high-speed stability.Carbon TipsCarbon fibre is used in the tips to increase the strength whilst reducing weight.EB tester’s comments: Luke (Buying Team) A true all-condition charger, suited for better skiers who like to go down anything. They felt solid and cut through all the mixed conditions of soft wet snow and patches of hard pack, I was glad of the Titanal layer dampening the ski in the lumpy conditions.Technical SpecificationsSize (cm)Tip Width (mm)Waist Width (mm)Tail Width (mm)Radius (m)Weight (g)1771309211319.820101841309211321.21990General InformationSkier Ability: Advanced/expertTerrain Type: Freeride Rocker: Tip/Tail RockerRadius: LongBase: SinteredBindings: n/aDIN: n/aConstruction: Full SidewallCore: Wood, Cabon, Titanal laminateDemo: NoSizing Description: Forehead to over head height. The increased length ensures better grip, stability and floatation and is essential to making the ski work to its full potential. Large rockers at the tip mean it is important not to size down.
